The Official Gazette of 15 March published Legislative Decree 27/2014 implementing Directive 2011/65/EE (RoHS 2) on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Directive 2011/65/CE (RoHS 2) establishes standards governing the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in order to safeguard health and the environment, and also regulates the ecological recovery and disposal of waste EEE.
Compared to the previous legislation, RoHS 2 introduces various new restrictions, including:
- CE marking;
- drafting of Declarations of Conformity
- preparation of a technical folder containing all the documentation needed to demonstrate the conformity of the individual homogeneous materials in products.
In addition, the field of application of the new directive has been extended to cover a new category that includes all EEE not included in any of the other 10 categories.
